The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD coming to Wii U later this year

Last night’s Nintendo Direct installment delivered in spades. Not only did Eiji Aonuma confirm that there is a new Zelda in development for the Wii U, however it’s a little while away so to keep us entertained Nintendo will be releasing The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker in HD on the Wii U.

This isn’t a backwards compatible thing, the game is being re-released with new graphics, a ‘tuned’ game play experience and Miiverse integration.

There wasn’t too much of the game shown in motion, just small comparisions to the GameCube version, however a bunch of screenshots have been released.

this is a little disappointing, it’s all I can say with out going nuts as I am starting to hate this remake a game that’s all ready been sold that’s only 2 generations old. Feels like I am being taken for a ride as I know I’ll buy it, but I’ll also know what to expect story wise and that half the fun gone

Almost cheapens the series why not remake orical of ages or some older like that in hd?

Remaking OoA/OoS would take years (by Nintendo’s standards) because they’ll pretty much be developing an entire new game. With Wind Waker the bare essentials are already there, all that’s needed is a new engine boost, higher res textures and more detailed character models.

Since WW is my favourite Zelda title — yes, more so than OoT — this news has me pretty God damn stoked.

If we are going by that theory why not do a wii u trilogy Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward sword for $50 or $60 bucks on 1 or 2 discs? give use some value for our money since most would of played WW by now.

Because quite simply it would take even longer and more development. The idea of this HD remake was to breath life into an old game and give new players an opportunity to play something they have missed.

Fact is they have already announced the next Zelda is in production, and a LOT of people skipped over Wind Waker. It was on the the Cube and a lot of people felt it was “kiddy”.

I will be fair, I wish they would have redone Twilight as well (even though WW ranks 1 spot above it in my book) simply because it would far better with the enhanced graphics imo. But considering that was only released just over 5 years ago, WW was probably the better choice.

I heard the news and though “How are they going to make this look decent in HD?” Then I saw the pics and oh baby is that some heat for your pants right there!

Very happy about this. Played the GCN one to death and would gladly do it again. Heck, did it with OOT3D. I’d do it for a MM3D. I’d stop there though. The screens are lush, maybe a tad bright. Hope they integrate the Tingle Tuner in(never tried it, just curious) with the gamepad or an option for a 3DS. It’ll keep me happy until the new Zelda comes out, I say around 2015.

Simply can no wait!! This game is going to be absolutely astonishing! I hope they go back and add in the other castle they didn’t get to do on the first time round, but doubtful.

Must have game!! Maybe my partner will get past the art style and play it now..
