PAX Australia 2014 locked in for Melbourne, new venue and dates
Penny Arcade Expo will be back in Australia next year with a brand new location and date. Moving to the much larger (and actually in the city) Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre the event next year will be held from 31 October to 2 November 2014.
The fact the event is in Melbourne again is sure to no doubt anger every videogame company in Sydney too. Least you don’t have to travel from Perth buddies.
Just think this time in one year you’ll be wetting your pants in anticipation to get there. Remember tickets for PAX Aus this year sold out really really fast, so if you’re keen to go – buy them as soon as they go on sale.
Now here’s what some important people have to say about PAX Aus;
“This year’s event in Melbourne represented the first time that PAX had been held outside of the United States – not only was it a great coup for Melbourne but the event was a runaway success.” – Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business Louise Asher
“Not only have they helped us secure a much-needed larger venue for the show, but they’ve paved the way for talented local creators to be showcased on the global stage. The games community here is incredible, and PAX Australia is here to stay,” – Robert Khoo, President of Penny Arcade
We’re sure Yug had something to say too, but he’s passed out with excitement no doubt.
Well then, you going? We are.
The move to the exhibition building is fantastic news. it’s a much easier location to get to, much bigger space and with the Hilton hotel build directly next to it there is greater theatre space for the panels to operate in.
I don’t want to bash Sydney or anything but the layout of Melbourne and the multiple ways to traverse the CBD makes it the perfect city for this sort of event.
There are hire bikes you can use to get around if you wish, there are trams, two major train stations within 5-10 minute walking distance and a smorgasbord of food venues close by so you won’t be at the mercy of overpriced food carts.
Can’t wait!
Sydney has EB World Expo anyway, why should they complain?
Haha, passed out? I wish!
How about this – the new venue means that we’ll have THREE TIMES the amount of theatre/panel room spaces, which will hopefully alleviate some of the issues we had this year with lines!
Now we just need to find somewhere to stay 😉
Too bad registration for tickets isn’t available yet – I don’t want to miss out again this time!
Yeah, while it was an awesome event, you looked STRESSED during it! It can only get better this time around. 😀
Well ive already booked a Hotel… and I live in Melbourne!!!!
