Nintendo’s online services experiencing troubles over Christmas

Nintendo’s online services, including the Nintendo Network, the Nintendo eShop and even online play and rankings have been suffering downtime over this festive season. Since early morning Christmas Day in North America the above services have been down for the Wii U and the 3DS and the DSi and Wii soon followed.
Nintendo is aware of the issues and they’re solely due to the large number of new Wii U and 3DS owners attempting to buy games, redeem codes, download system updates and basically do anything required online with a Nintendo console.
Not the best experience for brand new Wii U and 3DS owners. You can keep track of the all the issues via Nintendo’s status page.
Anyone had issues locally? Patience will be key.

Yeah, problem was they announced Super Mario Bros 3 was coming to Wii U and 3DS on Boxing Day! I tried a bunch of times today and no dice. Hopefully soon.
Super Mario Bros was scheduled like any other weekly update to hit at 1am Friday in the Eastern States. With the store down it’s likely to be there when services return.
Been having the problem all day, even a little bit yesterday when I was trying to do a system transfer.
Just hope it’s all sorted for when PokeBank and Pokemon Transporter are released…
Not been able to access anything all day.
I received my Zelda 3DS XL on Christmas Day, and I have been unable to download A Link Between Worlds, at least 90% of times I try to access the eShop or download ALBW I get a error code
Looks like all back up and running. Was able to browse eShop, redeem points etc as of Friday night (27th Dec).
