Nintendo reveals Super Mario Run for iOS at Apple Keynote
During this morning’s Apple Keynote there was a bit of a surprise and one we thought might never happen. Super Mario is coming to Apple devices.
Tim Cook took to the stage to reveal that Mario was coming to iPhones and iPads. Shiguru Miyamoto and Bill Trinen took to the stage to demo the game which is a Mario endless runner. The works as many other endless runners do, with simple controls you can even play it with just one hand.
The game also features a ‘battle’ multiplayer mode where two people can play through a stage at the same time. Super Mario Run will be released in time for the holidays and will be a ‘fixed price’. The listing on the App Store however does say it Offers In-App Purchases.
Also announced on stage was a set of Super Mario stickers for iMessage, these will be available once iOS10 is out.
Wow.
iOS only? Pfft.
iOS first.
Too bad I ain’t buying an iPhone just for this game. Nintendo really should have opened this up to Android also.
Sign of things to come for the NX? Maybe powered by iOS?
At least it’ll come to Android later, but does mean waiting for me. I’m liking that they’ve gone for the pay once approach on this.
Would it really be classed as an endless runner though?
