It is our extreme displeasure to report that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has passed away.
Nintendo this morning put out a statement, he passed away on July 11th from a bile duct growth.
Born December 6th in 1959, he became became a director of Nintendo in June 2000, appointed President in 2002. Before he stepped into management Iwata-san was a developer at the HAL Laboratory.
The Vooks team wishes to pass on our deepest sympathies to Mr Iwata’s, friends and fellow co-workers.
Rest in Peace Iwata.

R.I.P Iwata, gone too soon.
Truly shocked and saddened by this. RIP Iwata, and thanks for everything you have done to make Nintendo so fun and such a major part of my life. You will be sorely missed.
Just can’t believe it, this is a sad day 🙁
This is such sad news. He was in charge when the Wii first came out and the DS was doing gangbusters. That was probably my favourite period in gaming to this point. This is probably the saddest I’ve felt at someone that I dont know personally passing away in a long time.
Rest in peace and thanks for the memories.
Just drove past Nintendo HQ, flag is at half mast.
R.I.P Iwata San.
If you go back could you get a photo?
Yep no problem.
He loved to entertain. He didn’t want to take time off because of his health, he cared for the fans too much.
