Nintendo president expects the Switch to sell about the same as the Wii
Nintendo’s president Tatsumi Kimishima has made a bold statement today. He has said in a new interview with the Nikkei that he expects the Switch to sell about as well as the Wii did.
You know, the one that sold over 100 million units. Not the other one with the U on the end.
That’s a huge statement from Kimishima and obviously he has faith in the Switch. So why does Kimishima expect it to sell that much? Because like the Wii, the Switch offers a unique way to play games.
Only time will tell if his optimism pays off.

Actually, the original quote from the article in Nikkei can be more accurately translated as ‘the switch has the *potential* to sell as much as the wii’ which is a tad different from ‘the switch will sell as many units as the wii’.
I’m looking into this and trying get a 100% translation of what was said. The source in the article actually got a few other things wrong today.
Pigs might fly too.
What did the Wii sell for? Potential or not, not priced for massive adoption. Long term fan with income to buy, but with lineup as is I’ll be waiting. Zelda on Wii U, horizon, South Park fractured but whole, mass effect andromeda all currently slated for march…… not going to have time to be on the go.
