Nintendo Download Update: A VVVVVVery ‘still coming’ Update
Update: So when our story went live last night so did the weeks updates. Sadly there was no VVVVVV on the eShop. We contacted Nicalis (the publisher) and asked what was up. Their response was “Waiting for official OFLC rating to release in Australia and New Zealand. Won’t be long.” So then, no VVVVVV this week – we’ll let you know when it is up.
Original Story: A massive download update this week with a whole whack of new things to download on both the 3DS and the Wii. One of the them is a game you’ve been waiting on for a long time, the others are all classic retro Sega titles. Dust off your Wii, load up your 3DS with credit, it’s time to go shopping.
3DS Virtual Console
Sonic Labyrinth (Game Gear, SEGA, $7.50AU) So let’s get probably the worst game in the update out of the way. This one doesn’t have the finest reputation out there but I’m sure if I’m wrong you’ll tell us all about it.
3DS Download Software
VVVVVV (Nicalis, $12.00AU) – After long last you can finally get your six-capital-vee action on. It weighs in at a hefty $12 but it really is a great game, we’ve been playing it here on our American 3DS and the port is great. But you knew that already.
Wii Virtual Console
Wonder Boy in Monster Land (Virtual Console Arcade, SEGA, 900pts) — Hopefully you didn’t download the Master System version, because this is the real deal arcade version perfectly recreated on the Wii’s Virtual Console.
Monster World IV (Mega Drive, SEGA, 900pts) — Sega has gone all out with this one. They’ve translated the entire game into English! This is the first time that Monster World IV has been seen outside of Japan. Fans of the series have already downloaded it and have probably not even read this.
um I don’t see VVVVVV ?
See the update 🙁
I guess we can switch the region to UK and buy it there right?
Yup.
I know switching regions makes you lose credit, but will it stop the games from working?
You don’t lose credit anymore, it stays in your shop account for each region. So if you switch to the UK Store, buy $20 worth and only spend $12 and then switch back the $8 will still be there for you to use next time.
The games access doesn’t change.
ok cool – good to know thanks!!
Dammit I want my VVVVVV action! Why does this always have to happen to us 🙁
It’s sad that sometimes releases don’t make it through on time. I’m sure Nintendo Australia tries hard to get everything on time but not everything is in their power, for example waiting for OFLC to classify something or receiving news of a game very late and then trying to process as fast as possible to catch up with Nintendo UK.
Switching regions is a great way to get the game earlier but then this means all money goes overseas and Nintendo Australia doesn’t get any of it I think. So if that’s the case, this means that the Big N in oz is losing money. I’m going to stay dedicated and wait so I can support Nintendo Australia and also to support more 3rd Party releases in Australia.
