Mario Kart 8 collector’s edition speeds into Australia and Europe
Update: EB Games now have the collector’s edition listed for $99.95. It’s marked down as an ‘EB Exclusive too’. Nintendo Australia haven’t confirmed for us if we are getting it, but its pretty safe to assume if it’s already up on EB Game’s site.
Original Story: Nintendo Europe just announced on their Twitter that Europe are going to be getting a collector’s edition of the upcoming Mario Kart 8.
This edition will include the game, as well as a Spiny Shell collector’s item, with a neat little stand. See the image below.
We’ll reach out to find out if we’ll be getting the same edition here in Australia, and hopefully we won’t ironically be in last place, and not get the Spiny Shell.
We’ll update the article if we find out any more news. In the mean time, watch the announcement trailer below, and try not to cry too much.
Btw, you missed out on stating that Europeans get key chains (Red Shell, Golden Dash Mushroom & Bullet Bill) as pre-order bonuses for either Mario Kart 8 edition. At least in Europe anyway…I dunno if we’d get the same thing.
Looks like it’s up on EBGames website now:

Thanks Burt!
Those are retailer-specific bonuses and were not part of the “special edition” (but rather, an additional bonus for buying the special edition). There are three different keychains, and each keychain was exclusive to certain gaming stores in Europe.
Damn it! I was hoping for a wide release of the special edition. I have no doubt in my mind that Big W will be selling the standard edition for $68 or less at launch, and considering that the only bonus here is a box and a figurine, I don’t know if I can justify spending an additional $32 for it. *Maybe* if they included the new Mario Kart 8 wheel I would have considered it…
Nintendo confirmed it to me this morning. EB Will be the only place in australia stocking this version.
Now I just need to decide whether I want to pay the extra $30ish+ on the shell or not, since the standard will probably be below $70 elsewhere >.<
Eb keep getting my money because of these Special Editions despite the fact I prefer JB Hifi or Big W. I’m still not sold though because $100 is steep considering the usual launch discounts elsewhere!
