It was inevitable – Special Edition New 3DS Cover Plates coming in Japan

As the Japanese launch of the New Nintendo 3DS approaches the marketing campaign is starting to roll out.

We’ve seen the new themes detailed (which also work on the old models) but now the first commercial for the system and a look at some of the face plates in action.There’s even some special limited editon ones coming dubbed ‘Kawaii Kisekae’ or cute dress-up dolls.

The commercial rolls with this theme showing Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Samus, Isabelle and others all ‘dressed-up’ in different cute costumes. The marketing campaign is fronted by Japanese model and singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, she’s the girl dancing around the website and commerical.

Launching with the commercial is a neat gallery where you can check out how all the cover plates in action on both the black and white 3DS models. We’re only getting the white model in Australia sadly.

The New 3DS rolls out in Japan on October 11th in Japan and will be released in Australia on November 21st. Sorry America and Europe.
