Australian New Super Mario Bros. 2 release date set for August 18th
Nintendo Australia has this morning announced that New Super Mario Bros 2. will be released in Australian and New Zealand on August 18th. The game will be released both at retail but also available to digitally download from the eShop. You’ll be able to download the entire game from home or at ‘participating retail partners’ who will be announced in the future. All Nintendo 3DS games from Nintendo and eventually Wii U games will be available to digitally download this way going forward.
The release date of the game again puts Australia smack bang in the middle of the America and European release who are a day later and before respectively. Nice going.
So then who’s going to download it or are you going to pick it up ‘old school’ at retail?
[quote]Following on from all the new information released at E3 last week, Nintendo Australia can confirm New Super Mario Bros. 2 will release on the 18th August in Australia and New Zealand, exclusively for Nintendo 3DS. New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be the first title to release in-store and digitally, providing consumers the option to either purchase the game at retail stores or download the entire game directly from Nintendo eShop and participating retail partners.
Might make a nice birthday present.
I wonder if it really will be the same price digitally as physical RRP. I hope it is at least $5 or $10 cheaper digitally. I also want to know if I can transfer it to another 3DS system if I ever replace or upgrade.
They’ll most likely transfer over just like all the eShop games would.
I doubt they’ll be cheaper, retail here is funny. The game is $69 but most likely JB is going to have it for something like $58.
Retail for me, I like the box sitting on my shelf.
This isn’t exactly pertinent to the article, but I have a strange desire to mention it: It would seem the Australian Club Nintendo is out of the Golden Nunchuck accessory.
Noticed that too. Already have mine! 🙂 I think I might get this game for my birthday as it’s only 2 weeks afterwards.
So it is. No Golden Nunchuk for me – not enough points, not enough time. 🙁
Retail version for sure. Hate digital releases, love having everything viewable on the shelves. Plus it will certainly be cheaper in stores. Nintendo’s online prices are always RRP and never drop.
I noticed that yesterday and I’m p—ed off. I missed out on the SNES Classic Controller too. Foolishly, I assumed that they were permanent Club Nintendo items. Worse still, is that I had enough points to have earned both of those gifts. >=(
Some retailers were selling Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 for around $49 at launch and then settled into the now standard $59 price point a week later. This is in spite of the $69.95 RRP set by Nintendo themselves (which only EB and Game seem to adhere to =P).
I’ll be buying the hard copy so that my younger brother can play it on his 3DS too. That, and I can’t bring myself to spend that kind of money on a digital copy when I can get the hard copy for virtually the same price (if not cheaper).
