Aussie Bargain Roundup: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Advertisement
These bargain guides are getting earlier and earlier, but the prices are getting cheaper and cheaper. Who are we to complain!
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is Nintendo’s next big release for the Switch, yeah it’s a port of a Wii U game – but so was Zelda and look how that turned out. The price wars are on early and this time it’s not ever worth importing because Target are going to have the smashing price of just $62!
Digital buyers there’s not much relief for you from any eShop – so you might just have to pony up the cash if you want in on the Deluxe action.
As also if you see a store with a cheaper price let us know and we’ll update the guide.

Mario Kart 8: Deluxe – $7.95
I wish 🙁
$62 is pretty damn good. $58 for the original Wii U version (at launch) was even better value as it also included a full retail game download! Still, I can’t complain. I hope that Puyo Puyo Tetris will be offered at a more sensible price. It would be pretty ridiculous to pay roughly the same price for a game as simplistic as Tetris.
Any idea how much I could trade in the Wii U version for?
I’m going to have to pass until there’s a significant discount. I enjoyed it on Wii U but can’t bring myself to buy it again at that price. So many people will have a blast playing this for the first time though!
Yup, I’ll be one of them. I never had the WiiU.
The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe guide (https://ebgames.com.au/nintendo-switch-228429-Mario-Kart-8-Deluxe-Guide-Switch, $29.95 at EB) can be bought currently for under $15 AUD delivered from Book Depository (https://www.bookdepository.com/Mario-Kart-8-Deluxe-8-Joseph-Epstein/9780744018400?utm_medium=api&utm_campaign=usbooko&a_aid=booko&utm_term=9780744018400&utm_source=book_link&utm_content=Mario-Kart-8-Deluxe-8). I found this using the booko.com.au price search engine (search used is https://booko.com.au/9780744018400/Mario-Kart-8-Deluxe).
Down to $11.92 AUD delivered at the moment (Book Depository).
Why is the Japan eshop price left out for some reason?
Comes out to $78AUD and although unlikely, it might not have English. Until we can confirm, we’re leaving it out.
Is it just me or do EB games not seem to care about being competitive with its pricing?
Oh well, at least my preorder that I put on in February has dropped from $99.95 to $79.95 and now comes with a fridge magnet, I guess ?
From now on they can keep their carrots and ridiculous prices, it looks like I’ll be shopping at Targét from now on.
Where has everyone else been buying their games from?
EB games always price match, so make that work for you by doing just that and collecting their carrots
I second that. I’ve been price matching at EB Liverpool for years, only reason why I still shop there.
I should say they can match as product (game) is not different to other retailers. Preorder bonus (Magnet) is extra item only.
any word on pricing for the wheel accessory?
$24.95 at EB
$24.00 at JB
Haven’t seen it priced for Target / Big W
The Pro Controller at Big W is $79 not $75 from a photo of the catalogue (OzBargain, second catalogue link)
How do we know normal price at Taget ($69 from $62 launch weekend) after the gaming event is over? I’m not doubting it, just curious as I didn’t notice it in the catalogue photo from last week.
Whoops thanks for that!
Any link to the $62 catalogue? I couldn’t seem to find it online at Target’s official website.
There’s scans floating around, we’ll use of them by Thursday if there’s no Target link – they should have it on their website tomorrow. It is annoying long it takes for the latest one to go up.
I’m keen to see if Costco will beat everyone!? I guess on Friday we will find out.
Target Australia game link https://www.target.com.au/p/mario-kart-8-deluxe-switch/60494832. It looks like some city locations are already out of stock in store.
