Aussie Bargain Roundup: Find the New Nintendo 3DS and New 3DS XL Cheap
For the first time in known recorded history Australia will be receiving a new console before the rest of the western world. Sure Japan already got it but to get the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL months before America and Europe is really something special.
So should you buy one, make the plunge and upgrade your console? That’s not what this article is for, we’ll have our legendary Mega FAQ up soon to help you answer that question but aim of this guide is simply to get you a New 3DS or New 3DS XL as cheap as possible.
Things to remember for buying the New 3DS models.
– These new models do not come with a charger, you can buy one separate for a RRP of $14.95. If you already have a 3DS, 3DS XL or DSi or DSi XL you can use that charger instead. There is no way to charge one of these out of the box.
– If you’re going to transfer your old 3DS to this new model you’ll need a new Micro SD card of equivalent size to match your old one. You will also have to hang onto your old system, do the transfer then trade it in if you’re doing that.
– The cover plates only work on the New 3DS (smaller console), not the New 3DS XL.
As we get closer to release more stores will add bundles and deals in catalogues and sales. We’ll update as we go but if we’re missing one please let us know in the comments.

I know the FAQ is coming, but I’ll ask ahead: Do the new models come with an SD card? (I’ve always used the one that came with my 3DSXL, so I’m hoping the new one will have one the same, just micro).
Yup 4GB ones.
They come with a 4GB micro SD card.
The original 3DS’s came with 2GB SD cards.
So only Target is doing them cheaper. Good to know, I can price match my preorder at EB
Bookmark this and keep checking back. Begun this price war has.
Aren’t they region locked?
Aren’t they region locked so we would have to buy Australian games as well?
They are region locked but Australia is included in the EU region. US games wont work but UK games will.
Where is the link to the target 229$? I can’t find it through the link up there or in their catalogues
Thanks Vook 🙂

Target is the clear winner.
I’m planning to buy a New 3DS XL however I will need a charger. Will one of the USB cables on eBay, paired with a USB wall charger, charge as fast as the official charger?
If so, can anyone recommend a particular cable?
Thanks for putting this guide together.
Any cable should work the same as the other. Using an iPhone wall charger or something similar should work the same if not close to an official charger.
real gamers don’t support eb games.
Hey guys, I’m buying one of these as a gift and I have no idea about the demand. I want to buy from Target. Should I expect stock to run out quick? I really don’t want to wake up early just to get one of these..
I would love to know what Target think NRC is
It’s a shame that Big W isn’t doing a bundle with the New 3DS regular. I’d jump at that!
Do Toys R Us still sell Nintendo handhelds? They’re having a 25% off friends and family sale from 20-23 November http://www.toysrus.com.au/i8917704
Just saw a real life unboxed NEW 3DS XL.
Local EB is having a midnight launch and someone was already pre-transfering their data from their trade-in 3DS.
Wow. It looks much better in real life than online.
The box is very compact without the included charger.
Target is cheapest, but stock is low compared to main games outlets. Be quick.
I’m in USA and want to purchase NN3DS XL but it’s region locked, does anyone know where to go to get one before the North American release date?
Since the nn3ds xl is region locked where can I purchase one ig I live in North America be found ore the release date?
