Yoshi’s New Island release date marches on in

The somewhat controversial Yoshi’s New Island has been given a release date and it’s closer than you think. Nintendo of America has announced that the game will be released on March 14th in store and of course on the eShop.

Yoshi’s New Island has come under some fire from fans since its unveiling for its unusual art style and who is developing the game. However we’ve since launch that the game is being produced Takashi Tezuka, the creative director of the original Yoshi’s Island for Super NES. Hopefully that will put some minds at ease.

We’ve included some new screenshots below and we’ll let you know when an Australian and European release date is announced.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who didn’t like the art style!?

But seriously, the GBA and DS versions had much nicer graphics which all complimented each other nicely. Parts of the imagery in this new game seem poor, cheap and they don’t feel like they match the rest.

The art style doesn’t really bother me, that said this does look like what I think they originally wanted to achieve visually on the original SNES version.

It will probably all fit together once its in motion.

Yeah Jabjabs, I HATED the look of ALBW and Pokemon X & Y when I saw the screenshots, and even the Nintendo direct footage.

Once I saw them on an actual 3DS screen they made sense and I appreciated them.

I can see the same thing happening here, although I don’t have sentimental attachment to the original like some people do.

I agree, I reckon once we see it in motion all our skepticism will just melt away.

The exact same thing happened when I first played A Link Between Worlds. I’m kind of hoping the same happens with Yoshi’s New Island.

I wonder how long the project has been in development for, however. It seems so fast, I hope it’s not rushed or anything.
