Yoshinori Ono spills details on Super Street Fighter IV for 3DS
3D edition to be an upgrade, not a port, original content to be included
The producer of Super Street Fighter IV has revealed details concerning the 3DS edition, unveiled at E3 in June.
Famitsu, who interviewed Ono, asked several questions of the Japanese producer. Ono has stated that the 3DS was chosen as the ideal platform due to its raw processing power over this generation’s handhelds; PSP included. The wireless functionality of the 3DS was also considered. However, the 3D visuals will not affect competitive gameplay but be used merely for aesthetic effects; think Ultra and Super Combos.
Ono also stated that the gameplay will not be dumbed down; rather, he said “we’d like to make it into a title that makes kids grow." The producer also wishes to utilise the bottom screen and/or the slide pad (analogue stick) as a control scheme. The game will apparently contain all original modes from the console version as well as the possibility of new content such as costumes.
All 35 characters will appear in the port, as well as Focus Attacks, Ultra Combos and the like. Famitsu reports that the game is approximately 10% complete. Ono finished off by saying that the game will be released around the time the franchise picks up again after the arcade release.
We can’t wait to dislocate jaws in 3 dimensions.
