Yooka-Laylee is the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie
Playtonic Games, made up of the creative team behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country, have finally revealed their debut title Yooka-Laylee.
After Playtonic teased news of a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie for weeks, IGN has shared video footage of the game as well as details of the characters.
Yooka is the chameleon, Laylee the bat. Each have their own special abilities with Yooka being able to use it’s tongue as a grappling hook, and Laylee being able to fly for a short time and unleash a sonar blast.
The characters were designed by Steve Mayles, whose other characters include Banjo & Kazooie, as well as the modern Kong family.
Until now, Playtonic have been teasing the game under the codename Project Ukelele. The game will be part of a Kickstarter campaign starting today, and if funded will see a release on Wii U, as well as Windows, Mac, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Well now, this is exciting.
Hopefully it can live up to the hype!
If it’s a game on the Wii U, then I’m all for it! But the initial footage didn’t look crash hot. Wait and see I guess, though I suppose I have to kickstart it to see it in a better light?
Oh, wow, so looks like it’ll be fully fledged release! Unless there is a physical release, I’ll probably get it on xbox one lol
>PC port? Awesome!
Definitely am excited about this. Only let down is the reptilian appearance of the characters-would have preferred the chamillion to be a mammal-it’s just more reminiscent of rare’s dk and bk.
