Yoku’s Island Express finally gets a release date, launches on Switch on May 29th
You might remember, back in February of last year, the announcement of a curious little game called Yoku’s Island Express. Despite being one of the first games announced for the Switch, information about its release has been scarce — until now.
Villa Gorilla announced on Friday that Yoku’s Island Express will finally launch on the Switch (and other platforms) on the 29th of May. Published by Team17, Yoku’s Island Express follows the story of Yoku the dung beetle, as he travels the mysterious island of Mokumana Island to fulfil his destiny of becoming the new island postman.

The game has attracted the interest of many Switch owners with its unique and interesting genre mashup, seamlessly combining the ball-smashing fun of the pinball genre with the open world exploration found in the Metroidvania genre. It may have taken a long time to get here, but with a project so ambitious, it’s no surprise it’s been a while. Sold Out also announced in August of last year that they’d teamed up with Team17 to release the game physically, and that will happen on June 15th in Australia.
