How Yo-kai Watch 2’s differing physical and digital bonuses will work in Australia

It was previously reported that Yo-kai Watch 2 would have different bonuses depending on whether you bought the game physically or digitally – if you bought either version of the game physically, you got one of two special Jibanyan Yo-kai Medals with QR codes on them that unlocked new Soultimate moves for Jibanyan in the game. The medal included in Bony Spirits unlocks the Nyaight Soultimate, while the one included in Fleshy Souls unlocks Nyext. These medals were also compatible with the Model Zero Yo-kai Watch toy that uses Yo-Motion medals like these ones to project images, which hasn’t been slated for an Australian release yet.

If you bought the game digitally, you would get one of two exclusive Yo-kai – Robonyan F if you bought Bony Spirits, or Sailornyan if you bought Fleshy Souls. You won’t totally miss out on these Yo-kai if you buy physically, as it’s been reported that they can be recruited multiple times within the one copy of the game, so you can find a friend or helpful online stranger to trade you one. Supposedly you can also insert your physical copy into a console that has the DLC downloaded to get the items needed to recruit them for yourself.

Retail listings for the game over here avoided mention of the medals, so Australian fans were wondering whether they would be included with the game. Nintendo have confirmed that unfortunately we won’t be getting the physical medals, but physical copies of the game will include the QR code required to unlock the new Soultimate moves. It has also now been confirmed that Australian digital copies will be getting the exclusive Yo-kai unlocks if you buy the game from the eShop. Neither of these are pre-order bonuses.

Yo-kai Watch 2 will release for 3DS on October 15th in Australia, and will come in two versions – Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls. Thanks Mon Amiibo!
