Monolith wants to lift the reputation of Japanese game dev.
Ever wanted Japanese game developers to be more like the ones in the US?
Yes? No? Not really sure?
Well during an internal interview late last year within Monolith Soft, the creators of Xenoblade Chronicles said their goal was to become more like Bethesda Softworks.
Monolith Soft’s Michihiko Inaba and executive producer, Hirohide Sugiura, made these comments in relation to their upcoming Wii U title.
Inaba: “I’d like to make an HD game that will wow the players. I want to show that Japan can still keep up with the USA when it comes next gen technology. Our goal is to become something like the developers of the Fallout series, Bethesda Softworks.”
Sugiura: “I believe that today’s Japanese gaming industry has lost its touch, and we’d like to do something to change that.”
Recently Monolith Soft opened a new studio in Kyoto, created a game called Project X Zone for the 3DS and assisted with certain aspects of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword development.
The developer is now working on a brand new Wii U title.
Details regarding this title are currently unknown, but Monolith promises it to be a challenging, addictive and flashy-looking game which will bring people together.
It's Black, Back Again.
