Worms W.M.D launching onto the Switch in Q4 2017

Team 17 have announced the Worms W.M.D is coming to the Nintendo Switch! It will be the first Worms game on a Nintendo system in 7 years, the last one being Worms Battle Islands on the Wii. Here’s the fact sheet;

The worms are back in their most destructive game yet. With a gorgeous, hand-drawn 2D look, brand new weapons, the introduction of crafting, vehicles and buildings plus the return of some much-loved classic weapons and gameplay, Worms W.M.D is the best worms experience ever.

Work your way through 30 campaign levels, 20 training missions and 10 challenge missions of increasing difficulty using the huge arsenal of new and classic weapons at your disposal. Use new vehicles to cause chaos amongst the enemy ranks and use buildings to gain the tactical advantage as you try to dominate the battlefield!

Take on opponents in hilarious all-out tactical worm warfare, either in local or online multiplayer, including ranked play. Flatten your opponents with the Concrete Donkey. Turn them into chunks of worm meat with the Holy Hand Grenade. Rain down hell from above in helicopters or pound them into oblivion with the tank and the mech. With over 80 weapons and utilities at your fingertips, this is Worms at its chaotic best!

Unfortunately, we didn’t get a release date from Team17, but we’ll follow it up. Worms on Switch? Makes Sense!

Update: Team17 has sent us a bunch of information about the game, including a launch window: Q4 2017. We’ve updated the description above with the new info. The game also boasts more features than you can poke a stick at, plus some goodies that the Switch version will get before any other platform, which we’ve outlined below:

• Every type of multiplayer you can imagine — single joy-con, local wireless, LAN and online!
• A brand new theme: space!
• New Mushroom and Tree forts
• New customisations, including 3 new outfits and 3 new gravestones, so your worms can bite the dust in style
