After a long wait since the original announcement, Nintendo has finally shown off The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD at its latest Direct.

The good news? It’s coming October 2013 (though this date may still up in the air for Australia).

The remake of the classic GameCube title will be delivered in full 1080p on the Wii U. The visuals appear to be sharper than ever and there’s also some enhanced Miiverse functionality on the side.

Adding to this, players will be able to write messages in bottles and send them overseas to be discovered by others. If intimate letters aren’t your thing you can always send a screenshot instead.

Once again, The Wind Waker HD will be released October this year – in the meantime check out this neat trailer of the game.

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
