Wii U System Update Goes Live in Australia, Downloads in about an Hour

While the Wii U is perfectly able to play games right out of the box you’ll want to get that sweet sweet system update into it as soon as possible to take it online, check out the eShop and of course get your Nintendo Network ID.
Our review unit has been patiently downloading the firmware update this afternoon and we can confirm like the American update it will take about an hour to download, even with our less sophisticated internet. It’s possible Nintendo is limited the speed out of the server so it can cope with the demand later tonight.
We’re installing the update now and will report all through the night.
For the record our download took 1 hour and 27 seconds to download.

Not too shabby indeed! The countdown is on now, didn’t realise it was so late already..
I’m less than half way after 35 minutes. Hopefully it will catch up…
Mine took around an hour. Now transferring save data from the Wii to the Wii U. The Pikmin video of them carrying all the data over is the coolest thing I’ve seen on Wii U this far, super cute!
Did my update last night, it’s great that they’ve put the progress bar on the gamepad screen. Meant a I didn’t have to keep flicking back and forth to check the progress while I watched Telly.
That and it downloading the update for Nintendo Land while I was playing it.
Very nicely done Nintendo.
