Wii U gets nicknamed ‘Super Wii’ for marketing campaign in Japan

Because it's super alright?

The Wii U marketing blitz has kicked off in America, Europe and now Japan. However instead of wub-wub music for America, Japan has naturally gone a different route. While we’re not marketing geniuses, the Japanese Wii U adverts do a great job of showing off the Wii U and all its functions.

Nintendo Japan has also chosen to dub the Wii U in adverts as the ‘Super Wii’. We’re not quite sure why, maybe it’s an attempt to re-affirm to the Japanese public that it is indeed a new console and not just a Wii addon.

Watch and see for yourself and let us know what you think.
