If you didn’t have enough fun last week updating your Wii U well its time to do it all again. Nintendo has released a new firmware for the Wii U bring the system to 2.1.0. The update is now available all regions.
The updates brings stability and minor adjustments to ‘enhance the user experience’. Hopefully this update improves the speed of the operating, general loading and fixes those pesky hard lock issues some people have been having.
No word yet as to how long it takes to download the update however. Let us know in the comments your times.

It doesn’t take long at all, 10 mins max I would say. Thankfully mine was initiated as I was turning off the console anyway
Updating now (around 60%)
Fired it up to play some Mario U and it downloaded in the background. Painless.
Mine already finished. No noticeable changes. No TVii. bummer…
Done – can’t see anything new? Menus still take same time to load
Finished playing zombie you and it prompted to update. cant see any thing different
Took me 45min to download the update another 10ish to install and yeah can’t see or notice any changes at all.
Mine was about the same.
Cool experience:
I saw this post and thought, ok I’ll go download the update.
Go get the Gamepad and turn the system on, was about to turn on the TV and thought: wait, why? So I sit back down at the PC with the gamepad and go to download management to see it has already been downloading the update and it’s two thirds the way through 🙂
Now I’m sitting here working with the gamepad next to me, once it’s installed I’ll get up and check it out.
My Wii U said it would take 1:40, but I’m on the edge of my exchanges ADSL2 range so my connection tops out at 3.2mbps =/
Also I was outside working while the update downloaded so not sure if it took longer than quoted =P but at most it took 2 hours to download and install because it was done when I came inside =)
Yeah it was about 10 minutes for me. I downloaded the New Super Mario Bros. 2 free content at the same time. I was left rather game-less for a few minutes!
Same as Andrew, at 5:30 this morning on ADSL1 (courtesy Baldivis chicken-shack exchange) but it ended up being an hour’s download and a 5 to 8 minute install. Then I had a train to catch… 🙂
