Wii U GamePad receives Famicom skin power-up

Yep, Japan only.

Japanese Wii U owners will soon be able to live and breathe nostalgia with this cool new skin for the GamePad.

Based on the historic Famicom video game system, this skin will make you the coolest cat in town and set you back approximately ¥1,980 (which equates to about $20 down under).

The design has been created by Datel Japan and goes on sale in July. Chances of it becoming available locally are slim, but there are likely to be a few imitations released.

So what do you think of the design? Do you think it looks good, or do you think it’s actually pretty ugly? Heck, do you even like putting sticky skins on expensive pieces of hardware, or would you prefer to just leave them be? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
