Even more news is appearing about the Wii U from Nintendo’s Japanese Wii U website. A Q&A feature has been posted with some commonly asked questions about all aspects of the system.

In focus this time is the use of the SD card slot and downloadable games.

First up, it looks like you’ll need to get your hands on a USB drive if you’re going to download a lot of games as downloadable games won’t be able to be run off or be stored the SD card.
Q. Where is software that I purchased a download for saved to?
A. Internal memory or USB media. Download software can’t be saved to the SD card.
The SD card will still likely be used for transferring Wii purchases, saving screenshots or other multimedia type features in the future.

The other point revealed from the Q&A is that you’ll be able to use downloaded content on one Wii U. You won’t obviously be able to download a game and use it on another console. No saving your friends bandwidth then, everyone will have to download directly from the server. This is a step no doubt done to protect and secure the Wii U.
