Iwata shows off the final form, with a couple of surprises.
Satoru Iwata has revealed the final name of the Wii U controller in the Pre E3 Nintendo Direct episode.
It’s now called the the Wii U GamePad and the name harkens back to the NES controller.
Iwata also showed off the final version of the controller, we’d already seen most of it but now we’ve got Nintendo’s big boss to run through the new features.
First thing, the analogue sticks are in and they are indeed clickable just like on your other consoles. On top there are two sets of shoulder buttons as well. Other new features include grips on the back just like on the nunchuck, nice and hand shaped.
There is also a new TV button which will allow the use of the Wii U GamePad to control the TV, but also allow you use the Wii U independently of the TV. The position of the sticks and the D-Pad have also been moved slightly since E3 last year.
Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, Rune Factory 5, Rune Factory 4 Special, West…

Until you see the price, at least.
Put a pin in it.
