Wii U consoles to come loaded with update starting March

The intial Wii U update left some consumers with a bad taste in their mouths and a bad first impression of the console. Misinformation about the size of the update circulating the internet certainly didn’t help the problem, but nevertheless, slow download speeds left some users with nothing to do but complain on Facebook and Twitter while the download went through.

Nintendo has heard their complaints, and in a recent interview with Gamasutra, NOA President Reggie Fils-Aime said only after the patch has been on the market for a few months that they will start to include it already pre-installed in future Wii U consoles. He also said.

“Nintendo developers want to make sure that the very best product is available to consumers. That creates a dynamic where our developers are working on elements until the very last point possible. That’s why the system update was required on Day One – and this is quite similar to what’s happened with other consumer electronic products.”

A few months would likely point to the end of the launch period and fiscal year, ending March 2013. We’ll bring you more as we hear it.
