The MotionPlus sporting showcase was the top-selling console game in its first week of sale with 354k units sold

The debut of the new sports compilation from Nintendo was met with a warm reception following its Japanese release, in the midst an otherwise poor month for video game sales. The strong launch was backed up by a high attachment rate of MotionPlus peripherals, with 296k extra units of the add-on sold alongside copies of WSR. High sales of WSR also boosted Wii console sales back into top spot in the land of the rising sun.

Wii Sports Resort will launch in Australia on July 23rd. Those of you lucky enough to live in Melbourne can take part in the launch festivities by heading on down to the Nintendo Experience at EB Games’ Swanston Street store on Wednesday night, July 22nd at 10 am to line-up for the midnight launch.
