Nintendo plans to promote Wii Sports Resort by taking over New Yorks Military Island

The Nintendo World Store in New York is the usual launch place for many a Nintendo game. However, things are a little different this time around as Nintendo is transforming the New Military Island in the middle of Times Square in New York into a resort.

On July 23, anyone who visits this Manhattan landmark will be treated to a mini-vacation according to Nintendo. There’ll be a sandy beach, swimming pool and tropical lounge — all smack dab in the middle of the city — plus a chance to play Wii Sports Resort, naturally.

Details for American readers;

WHO: Adults, kids, seniors, families, tourists, New Yorkers and consumers of all kinds

WHEN: Thursday, July 23, 2009 Event: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

WHERE: Military Island 7th Avenue and Broadway Avenue Between 43rd and 44th streets, Manhattan, NY 10036

Aussies – well, ones who live in Melbourne, at least – will be able pick up their Wii Sports Resort from the launch part at the EB Games/Nintendo Experience store in Swanston Street, Melbourne, next Thursday.
