The Wii has launched in Europe yesterday and within the first 12 hours of being placed on sale, 50,000 Wii Systems were sold. Nintendo, in their typical fashion, says there is one Wii System sold per second. However, things arent all too rosy with many people who preordered their systems months ago missing out on receiving the console.

More Inside David Yarton, from Nintendo UK, spoke to the BBC, who said We are doing everything we can do to meet demand throughout Christmas and the New Year period. There is said to be a new shipment coming into stores next week, although Nintendo has yet to confirm anything.

In contrast, Nintendo Australia has yet to release any figures for the Wiis Australian launch as yet. Expect some next week.
