Last week, we reported that the Wii Mini had been confirmed by Nintendo Canada, and was releasing in Canada on the 7th of December. This revision is a smaller, more compact console, with no Gamecube support, no online capabilities at all, and no SD card slot. When Nintendo of Australia was asked about any plans to bring the console here, they replied with:
“There isn’t anything to announce at this time”
This of course isn’t any sort of confirmation that there isn’t a launch down-under planned, but nothing concrete yet either. It seems as though the Canadian exclusivity may indeed be a testing ground to see how well the Wii Mini is received and gauge a possible launch outside Canada based on that. We’ll let you know how this develops and if Australia is going to be getting the console too.
Get in quick, they go fast.
