Wii and GameCube games coming to the NVIDIA Shield, but only in China

Hey, what else runs on the same chip as the Shield…

Earlier this year Nintendo sought and was given approval for some of their Wii games to be released in China, however only on the Nvidia Shield. Now its official and we have new details about how it’ll all work.

Today it was announced that the Nvidia Shield would be released in mainland China and on its launch line up includes several Wii games including;

  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii
  • Punch-Out!!

The games will be playable in HD and cost around $15AU to download, GameCube games are also on the agenda. The big question is now, is this something we could expect to see on the Switch in the future?

Both the Switch and Shield Tablet share the same chip, it wouldn’t be very hard for Nintendo to get these games working on the Switch.

Are classic Wii games something you’d like to see on the Switch as well? Let us know in the comments.
