Japanese Nintendo news website Nintendo Inside has uncovered a report from Japanese financial group, Nikko Citigroup. The report states that the CPU for the upcoming Wii has been “”procured”” (there words, or dodgy translation) for a lower price then expected. Because of this, Nikko Citigroup believes that the Wii will retail for 19,880 Yen ($223AU) instead of the 25,000 Yen ($281AU) that has been stipulated by Nintendo. Of course, dont expect the Wii here for even $281 due to shipping, taxes etc.

The article also states that its from a good source and isnt considered rumor. So what does this mean? A cheaper Wii? Perhaps, or Nintendo may pack-in more items with the SKU or Nintendo could simply just make more money. The Wii price and date is expected some time next week so stay tuned.
