The components of the Wii are very cheap, considering they are similar to GameCube components which is to be expected. The Hollywood GPU (Graphics Chip) costs a low $29.60US while the CPU costs a minute $13.00US. The DRAM comes in at $7.80US, the power supply is $11.30 and the disk drive which reads both GameCube disks and Wii disks and because of this it comes in at the most expensive at $31.00US.
The production cost to stick it all together with the other parts is $19.50US, half of a Playstation 3. This brings the grand total to around $158.30US, a whole 92 dollars of profit right there. Of course not all of that goes Nintendos coffers as the controller tech is expensive and the R&D spent on it would have been huge. Add together marketing, packaging, shipping and all the extras they throw in and that $92 doesnt go far but at least its making Nintendo some money.
