The newly-released Mass Effect 2 has taken top spot, yet the Nintendo Wii has still claimed seven of the top-ten selling games in Australia over the past week

The futuristic sci-fi RPG/shooter had an effect on the mass of Wii games that we’d grown used to seeing in the top half of the sales charts. The usual gamut of titles, New Super Mario Bros., Wii Fit, Wii Play etc. still characterise the top end of the chart, with Mario Kart Wii being Nintendo’s top-selling title for the week coming in at number two.

Whilst it is interesting to see the release of a high profile cross-platform game finally have an impact on mixing up the charts, it is still the same old story on platform-specific sales figures. The usual first-party Nintendo titles make up the top ten Wii games sold, whereas More Brain Training was yet again the top-selling DS game atop a very familiar line-up of titles.
