Weekly Nintendo update Excite!

Finally, Excitebike World Challenge hits the Aussie WiiWare store, amidst an otherwise spartan week of new games

The super-enhanced remake of the NES classic hits the Wii Shop Channel for 1000 Points, bringing with it a snazzy new 2.5D graphics style and a gamut of online play and level-sharing features. The game was right on top of our can’t wait list and we’re thrilled to finally get access to it in Australia despite it launching months ago overseas. It was put together by the same guys who gave us the incredible but understated Excite Truck and Excitebots: Trick Racing.

This week’s other WiiWare game is "Aha! I Found It!" Hidden Object Game. The game is as simple as the title suggests, as players must use their skills of observation to track down and find secret objects hidden on the screen. There are 277 objects to be found over 10 levels, and with support for four-way multiplayer, we reckon the price of 500 Points is just about right.

Giving us reassurance that the Virtual Console isn’t dead, we’re happy to see SNES brawler Final Fight 3 hit the store. For 800 Points you can relive this classic beat-em-up sidescroller. It’s continuing Nintendos return to form with supporting the Virtual Console and we’re looking forward to Nintendo continuing to put more games on the service.

Are you a DSi owner looking for your latest fix of downloadable goodies? Too bad, as this week you miss out on any new DSiWare games. We were expecting Snakenoid to hit the store today but are disappointed that we have to wait a little while longer to enjoy the game’s unique mix-up of the arcade classics ‘Snake’ and ‘Arkenoid’.
