Watch: Genyo Takeda’s Lifetime Achievement award speech from the DICE Awards
Genyo Takeda was tonight awarded a Lifetime Achievement award at the DICE Awards. His acceptance speech has just been posted and it’s pretty great.
The man behind the Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii and Wii U decided to accept the award to give thanks and representation to the ‘unsung heroes of home video game platform design engineers, not only for Nintendo but for other game machines’.

He also took time to thank the late Hiroshi Yamaguchi, ‘the grandfather of the home video game industry’. He wanted to thank him for trusting him and giving him the opportunity to lead the technology effort at Nintendo.
Takeda retired from Nintendo last year but remains at the company as a Special Corporate Adviser. He had been at Nintendo since 1972.
