Ubisoft has announced that the much anticipated Watch Dogs until at least Autumn 2014, that’s Spring for you northern hemisphere folk.

The game will now be released in Ubisoft’s next financial quarter which is any date after April 1st 2014. The delay hits the Wii U version of the game as well as the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC versions.

In a statement Ubisoft has said that “Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming, It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.”

“We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now? We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.”

There were signs that this delay was incoming for a while, the game hasn’t been playable anywhere outside of private media events and Ubisoft have gone quiet on it as of late. Ubisoft want Watch Dogs to be the first big ‘next gen’ game and this delay will only help that.

Can’t be too upset with that thinking.
