President of Warner Bros. Interactive, Martin Tremblay, told MCV that they will be creating some new IP for their games. “”Its going to be natural for us, if you look at Warners history, to create IP. But where we are in the cycle of maturity at the moment, LEGO Batman is one of the first games since we launched.”” Said Tremblay. “”Were just starting up in the games business, so at the moment were concentrating on the games we have and on making them well. Then we can go after new IP. We have developers come to us every week with ideas but its not necessarily our main focus at this stage.”” More inside
It’s a smart move on their part not to dive in too deep right away. But in the meantime will we see their projects dominated by Warner Bros. licenses? Perhaps, but it seems that external developers may continue to make games based on their properties as well. Tremblay says “”Warner has some amazing franchise properties and we are continually looking at ways to innovate and to take these forward, whether that be in-house or with external licensees.””
