The launch of a new Nintendo console (even if it just an upgrade) usually means another Wario Ware title and happily, the launch of the Nintendo DSi follows the trend. While Wario Ware Snapped! is not as full-featured as some of its predecessors, it does manage to use the DSi’s features better than any of the current DSi Ware titles.

There are four different modes in the game, which are hosted by stalwart Wario Ware characters Wario, Mona, Kat and Ana, and Jimmy. Each of the characters has five varied games which use the in-built DSi camera and can involve moving your hands, shaking your head left and right, or even saying peek-a-boo to a child! Kat and Ana’s mini games even require two people to play and are great fun. Sadly the is no real point to playing the games, or reason to go back to them, other than to make yourself look silly in the ending screen (it composes random photos of you shaking yourself around like a fool). This is because there is no way to save any of the photos the game takes. The SD card slot could have been used for this, but if you close your DSi or start again, the photos are lost to the flash memory chips in the sky.

Surprisingly, this new Wario Ware installment is probably the least portable title in the series to-date. Sure it is on the Nintendo DSi but you need to have two hands free to play it and it needs a stable surface to rest the DSi on. Also the camera is very picky and it almost takes longer to set it up than playing through a round.

For 500 points, Wario Ware Snapped! is a great game. It would be nice to be able to go back to the game and try and better your score or challenge your friends, but what is here is fun.

One more thing. You may have noticed we haven’t got any screenshots of this game and we haven’t talked much about how you play the game. There is a reason for this, as it is much better to see it in action than to hear someone describe try to describe it to you. So we felt it would be better to let Nintendo President Satoru Iwata do it for you.
