Gamers desperate for a sequel for WayForwards much-loved Gameboy Color platforming heroine can make their voices heard by joining the fanclub

The request comes directly from Matt Bozon, the artist and developer behind the 2002 original, who is rallying the fanbase to appeal to publishers to support a sequel. Bozon makes the challenge that “What Shantae needs (she talks in her sleep) are fans in great numbers to get loud. We’ve pitched sequels on all systems, and have had publishing deals on the table. What keeps this passionate lass tethered down are the low sales of original hardcore games in this age of mega-hitting dog petting, mama-cooking, brain training games. The question on the minds of our cash focused partners; how many Shantae fans are out there, ready to buy up a sequel? If we build it, will they come?

The original Shantae has a cult legacy amongst handheld fans- copies of the original game are hard to come by and can fetch a pretty price on online auction houses.
