Vookcast Episode 92 – Tropical Submarines

The team delves into a contemplative shooter and fast paced platformer.

The team returns to the traditional format to bring our loyal listeners their thoughts on the latest and greatest announcements of the last fortnight. The latest announcements for Smash Brothers and the updating of release dates (and delays) for various games open the show, with a quick recap on Nintendo’s latest promises for the Virtual Console service. The newest announcements are also discussed, from NES Remix 2 all the way through to Sonic Boom and Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. It’s a packed episode from start to finish for the news.

Of course, we’re not ones to ignore our critical darling either, with a full discussion and critique of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Not to be left in the (furry) shadow, the team also discusses it’s thoughts of Nintendo’s latest free to play experiment: Steel Diver Sub Wars.

We return to the new format next week – a critical look at one of Nintendo’s most dividing titles. We tease it in this episode – can you figure out what it is?

As a side note, there is some interference with the audio that has since been isolated and will not appear in future episodes. We apologise for the distortion in the present episode and assure our listeners it will not happen again.

This episode was produced by Steven and features the following music in order of appearance:

Amiss Abyss (from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)
by David Wise and Kenji Yamamoto

Irate Eight (Tension) ~ Lockjaw’s Saga (from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)
by David Wise and Kenji Yamamoto

Scorch N Torch (from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)
by David Wise and Kenji Yamamoto
