WayForward confirm that DSiWare hit may not reach our shores, ever.

UPDATE:  WayForward Technologies have confirmed that this announcement does not include the Australian region. While were all disappointed, it appears that the company confirmed via their Twitter that the game will remain unreleased in Australia, with “nothing more to say” on the release. Disappointing.

After over four months wait and a heap of critical acclaim, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge for DSiWare will be out in Europe this Friday, February 11 for 1200 DSi Points. Mark the date in blood if you will (or red ink kids, don’t go cuttin’ yourselves!). We’re not quite sure what’s happening with the Australian release though, because the game hasn’t even been classified yet. We’ve pinged developer WayForward with a question and will update you when we hear a response.

If you’re wondering, Risky’s Revenge is the sequel to Shantae on the Game Boy Color. It’s a platformer, and since its release in North America in October last year, the game has been widely praised for its delightful visuals, great soundtrack and an old school feel with fresh new ideas.

Some reviewers have touted it as the best game on DSiWare, so do you need any more convincing to buy it? Put your hand down, Timmy.
