More Nintendo NX “surprises” yet to come from Ubisoft
Ubisoft loves to support new consoles out of the gate, it doesn’t always look pretty but there’s some diamonds in the rough usually.
The NX is looking like no exception. Ubisoft’s brass have already commented on the system previously saying that what they’ve seen so far of it is ‘really great’ and that we should expect a ton of support for it. Just Dance 2017 has already been confirmed to appear.
Now Ubisoft is confirming even more projects for the system. Speaking to Games Industry.biz, Ubisoft’s Alain Corre has confirmed that other games are on the way and it will change the way families play together.
We announced that we’re developing Just Dance for NX and we have other surprises that we will announce later, but we also believe Nintendo has the power to reinvent the way families are playing. Nintendo is a fantastic powerhouse of brands that are really cherished by a lot of fans and families… I am still impressed by the reoccurrence of success and appetite even today for the Nintendo franchises on the current system.
There’s Ubisoft again talking up the more casual, family nature of the console. We hope that’s not all we get from Ubisoft however.
The wording I keep hearing from these publishers/developers, like “Casual” and “Family” makes me think there is more to it than just a hybrid/portable console. Like there is a piece to the puzzle that is missing. I don’t doubt it will be close to what was “leaked”, but I feel like there is some other major feature we haven’t seen yet. I just hope it isn’t just the ability to play portable local 2-player games. The only thing I can think of is maybe some mobile phone integration into the mix, maybe not as peripherals but perhaps asynchronous gameplay of some sort.
Dust off those rabbids for another run Ubisoft! And those cheap knock off games like Sports Connection and that lame fitness game etc. I won’t take any notice until we see some heavy hitters from Ubisoft like the next Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed etc. NX has to work harder to win those hardcore gamers
