Ubisoft still confident in the Wii U

While other publishers are throwing the Wii U under a bus, Ubisoft are standing firm on the console.
Speaking in a new interview, Ubisoft has confirmed their support and are “confident that this will help in continuing to attract gamers to the Wii U system and that Nintendo will take steps to ensure that the Wii U is successful in the market.”
Ubisoft has so far the biggest line up of third party titles announced for the Wii U so far. Titles like Rayman Legends, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and most recently Splinter Cell Blacklist have all been confirmed to be coming to the Wii U.
Hopefully Ubisoft’s faith in the console will pay off.

In all fairness, i will say that Nintendo did make a pretty console, but that is all i can say. Nintendo rushed theirs out the door to be first in the next gen. Another reason that Devs do not want to support it is because of it’s controller / touch tablet (gimmick??). It is basically an oversized tablet which will be uncomfortable to hold for hours on end. Plus the coding for that “tablet” is just ridiculous. Why would i surrender my comfy PS controller for an oversized DS look alike tablet?? Makes 0 sense. They did not think it through this time around. That being said, i think Nintendo might have done the wrong move this time, trying to merge the Wii, DS and a PC in one. Devs are scared to touch it for reasons that it will take to much time to code for that oversized controller, then to debug it will take longer, structure plan time = money, which they loose spending time to work this thing out. Nintendo have their first party exclusives, which i think will keep it afloat, but for how long, no one knows. Look at ME3, failed in the sales department. Maybe Nintendo should stick to their First Party games and leave the others to the big boys (xbox, PS3, PC). Wii, N64 etc did great with their own titles, but now Nintendo want in on the gamer community, but a lot of people see Nintendo as, how can i put it, a kids toy / gimmick (because of their past).
Have you met the Wii U Pro Controller?
Yes i have, they do not sell. Again they look like a Xbox 360 knock off controller. People will not invest in a Wii U to use a 360 controller look a like, they want to use the PAD. Any way, i give Nintendo 3 years tops before they end up like Sega. Nintendo had a good run, maybe they should just stick to the portable community. We sell 20 Ps3 and Xbox 360’s and in those we move maybe 1 or 2 WiiU. Sales are not strong here, and with the next gen or Xbox and PlayStation, i think Nintendo better step up or move out of the way!
While I have no idea if Nintendo will end up last this generation, let’s have this discussion in 3 years because I don’t see Nintendo doing a Sega. They may go down fighting in the end but this generation is far from their last battle.
Wow, just wow. Here I thought this place was the only Nintendo fansite that didn’t have PS360 fanboys trolling it. Such a shame. Lose all credibility when the claims to go the way of Sega arise. I believe they’ll fall on their sword before that happens. Completely agree with you Luminalace.
It comes down to only selling 3.45 million units worldwid to march. and that comes down to no 1st party games being released within that time. once these come out watch the sales explode.
you have Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Zelda, and now Sonic is exclusive to Nintendo wait for these to come out and watch the 3rd parties come running.
“Look at ME3, failed in the sales department.”
You mean the game they released AFTER the trilogy pack on everything else for the same price and stated that the Wii U version will recieve NO DLC support?
Yes, that is a wise investment for consumers.
The gamecube came last but it was a fantastic system. That generation Nintendo made more money than Sony with their all conquering PS2. Even if Nintendo came last, I’m with Taceus that only fanboys of competing console think that Nintendo is going to pull a Sega. Nintendo may live in their own world but for the most part it’s a world full of cash.
