"Nintendo is one of the best partners in the world".
The Wii U had third party support once, Ubisoft was one of its biggest backers. Then that whole Rayman Legends rubbish happened and then the Wii U ended up the way it did and it was all moot.
But now they’re back, well they say they will be with the NX. Speaking to Game Informer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot was quizzed about the companies support for the upcoming NX. Here’s what he had to say;
You can expect we’ll support Nintendo. Nintendo is one of the best partners in the world.
Mr Guillemot also commented on the situation with the Wii U;
We could see it wasn’t selling as fast as expected, so we reorganized around other platforms. With the Wii U, we were able to relaunch Rayman 2D. It was a good thing for the company and the brand and its fans. If you remember, it was supposed to be Wii U exclusive, but we made it multi-platform when we saw it wasn’t selling fast enough. The Wii U has done quite well. It’s still a Nintendo machine with lots of great franchises, and we’ve sold lots of copies of Just Dance on it.
While Ubisoft might only be putting out Just Dance titles on the Wii U right now, it’s perhaps all the system deserves? We can’t wait to see what they come up with for the NX, Ubisoft usually have some of the most creative games at launch.
