Notion Games has revealed it will be required to change the title of its upcoming Wii U eShop platformer, Super Ubi Land.

Ubisoft reached out to Notion via email making it clear they were not happy with the title of the game.

Following this, Notion tweeted the below statement:
“Ubisoft is not doing anything wrong. They’re protecting their business just like any small business would. They don’t want Notion infringing on their brand. They’re being fair.”
Notion’s game, whatever it does end up being called, will draw inspiration from classic platform titles such as Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World.

Maestro Interactive are also involved in the development of the title, and Notion has said they would be interested in bringing the game to the 3DS eShop in the near future.

So how do you feel about this? Have you ever lost interest in a game because its name was changed? Or can you think of similar incident in the past when this has happened? Let us know in the comments below!

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
