Ubisoft confirms Red Steel 2 will use Wii MotionPlus

Ubisoft has confirmed that it will be one of the first publishers to use the Wii MotionPlus to improve the execution of its core Wii titles. According to Ubisofts Alian Corre “”Red Steel 2 has been in development for many months now, and this new device will help us be even more precise in what we do with the product.”” Corre also believes that the technology of the Wii wasnt finished at the time of launch, but with MotionPlus the team can now realise its ambitions. On the same note he admits that Red Steel was rushed to launch and the sword controls suffered because of it. More inside
“”The Red Steel brand is strong – I think we released it on year one, and that people understood that it was a first try on new technology, technology that wasn’t completely finished. And our game tried to grab the best out of it, and was a bit rushed to be sure to offer something in year one to Wii consumers,”” he added.

“”So Red Steel is a brand, and as with every brand we have, we now have to reach the top quality possible. What was missing was the preciseness of the sabre – and with this new device I think it will change the experience.””

It was also revealed that Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Shaun White and the yet unnamed Red Steel sequel have been in development for over 18 months. Corre says that “”A lot of games are made in less than a year, but they’re not great products and they’re not selling at all. So it takes some time to develop good games.

Finally he revealed that Ubisoft has more Wii games still yet to be announced in the works. So what do you think? Will Red Steel rock with the MotionPlus addon? Tell us in the forums!
