Two years ago today is when Nintendo first spoke about the Nintendo NX, the system that would eventually come to be known as the Switch. Nintendo then didn’t talk about the system until it was fully revealed causing at least 18 months of feverish speculations and rumours. It was annoying.

March 17th 2015 was also a big day for Nintendo for another reason as well. Nintendo also announced their mobile plans and collaboration with fellow Japanese company DeNa, causing quite a stir. Since then we’ve so far got Miitomo, Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem: Heroes on our smartphones, with Animal Crossing is still yet to arrive.

Sadly however it was also the last time Satoru Iwata would make a public appearance. He did appear in the E3 introduction video that year, but as a puppet. Just four months later Satoru Iwata passed away because of complications from a bile duct tumor. We miss him.
