Two new Wii U bundles announced for Japan

Nintendo has just announced a couple of killer new Wii U bundles for the Japanese market.

Both bundles will be available from October 31st, Set 1 contains a Premium Wii U 32gb console in either white or black, a copy of New Super Mario Bros U, Wii Party U, a extra Wii Remote Plus, a sensor bar and 30 days of Wii U Karaoke.

Set 1 comes in at 32,800 Yen ($350~ AUD),  that’s just a little more than the standard 31,500 Yen ($331~ AUD) for a console by itself.

Set 2 is a little different but still contains everything listed above except for the addition of Wii Fit U and the Wii Fit meter. All of the software is included pre-installed, these are dubbed the ‘Play Immediately’ sets after all. The Wii Fit U set it a little more expensive at 34,800 Yen ($375~ AUD).

The Wii U has been selling extremely poor worldwide, but no poorer than it’s home country – Nintendo is obviously hoping some insane bundles with multiple games and everything you need to get you going will kickstart sales.

Hopefully similar sets make their way out here, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

I for the life of me can’t understand why Nintendo Australia has not followed the overseas market ans released a bundle with a price drop.

I was looking forward to purchasing a Zelda Wii U bundle (but that obviously didn’t happen), and I doubt any of the above will see daylight in Australia either. Really not sure what Nintendo Australia’s business or strategic plans are with sales (and 2 rival consoles breathing down their necks) – it makes no sense from where I sit.
